About TTRFU |
|
Development of Rugby in Trinidad and Tobago |
The objective of the Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Football Union's youth development
program is to introduce the sport to the youth of the Nation.
In an environment where the goal is learning, improving, working hard and having
fun and where winning isn't everything, basic running and handling skills are taught
but more importantly, the spirit of the game.
The TTRFU's strong view is that sport plays an integral role in the social development
of the country and that it can be used as an educational tool for the children of
the nation.
This vision informs the TTRFU's perspective with regard to its development programs
at U-12, primary schools and form one levels.
At these levels, Tag Rugby is used to introduce the sport of Rugby in a format that
is intended to foster a sustained lifelong interest in the sport; build character,
discipline and self-esteem.
The TTRFU evaluates its youth development program by analyzing participation levels
and retention rates. The development plan also targets referees, coaches and club
administrators.
The sustained development of Rugby is tbe central focus and major priority of the
TTRFU.
