Danny Cipriani travels to T&T return to England fold delayed by family bereavement
Jan.29.2010

Danny Cipriani whose father is from Trinidad and Tobago must wait for a further week before advancing his claims to senior international rugby once more.

The unfortunate London Wasps fly half had to withdraw from the England Saxons team to play Ireland A at the Recreation Ground on Sunday because of a family bereavement, although he hopes to be available for the game with Italy A one week later.

Cipriani will return over the weekend from Trinidad after attending his uncle’s funeral and the Saxons management, who were informed on Tuesday, were entirely sympathetic about his decision to withdraw. “That’s far more important to Danny than a rugby match,” Stuart Lancaster, the Saxons head coach, said. However, it limits the game time he can give Cipriani, who won the last of his seven senior caps against New Zealand in November 2008.

The Wasps fly-half had been hoping to rekindle his international career with England’s second string side at the Rec in Bath.

But the Rugby Football Union confirmed on Thursday that Cipriani is unavailable for selection.

Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Football Union(TTRFU) president Leslie Figaro when contacted by ttoc.org extended condolences to the Cipriani family. "Danny has a following in the T&T rugby fraternity and we are sorry to learn of his family bereavement. My information is that his father is Tobago born and currently resides there."said Figaro
