Members of the Trinidad & Tobago Senior Men’s and Women’s National Rugby Sevens Teams departed this morning for Barbados to compete at the 2018 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Seven-A-Side Tournament.

The other members will leave later this afternoon to join their counterparts. The National Teams are expected to do a run through at the tournament venue and advise of the prevailing conditions.

This tournament is very important to the future of rugby in Trinidad & Tobago as it is a qualifier for both the Pan American Games and Hong Kong Sevens in 2019, the latter of which is also a qualifier for the World Series.

The Senior Women’s Team, who were unable to defend their RAN Women’s 10s Championship this year as a result of financial constraints, have committed to show that they are still eager to represent Trinidad & Tobago at this very important tournament.

Along with the assistance from The Sport Company of Trinidad & Tobago (SporTT) and the Ministry of Sport & Youth Affairs (MSYA), the Trinidad & Tobago Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) would like to thank the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) for their support in covering the financial shortfall to ensure the National Teams’ trav el to Barbados.

On behalf of the TTRFU’s Executive Committee and members of the rugby fraternity, we wish our Senior Men’s & Women’s National 7s Teams a very successful tournament.
