Trinidad and Tobago’s men’s rugby sevens team earned qualification for the 2026 Caribbean American and Caribbean (CAC) Games following their bronze medal performance at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens tournament, held at Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima on the weekend.
The team defeated Bermuda 29-5 in the third place playoff, securing their spot in the CAC tournament in Santo Domingo, alongside other semi-finalists Barbados and Bermuda.
Champions Canada were excluded from CAC qualification as they are not part of the region.
Meanwhile, the T&T women’s team also claimed bronze, thumping Bermuda 29-0, but narrowly missed out on qualification for the CAC Games.
The women finished third in the round-robin phase before facing Bermuda in the playoff. Champions Mexico and Jamaica secured the top two spots, earning automatic qualification.
T&T will host the RAN Sevens tournament again in 2026, the final year of a three-year allocation from the regional association, providing both local teams another opportunity to qualify for the CAC Games.
